HYP Bear Aware at Montana WILD

  • Montana WILD 2668 Broadwater Avenue Helena, MT, 59602 United States (map)

Montana is home to bears. It's also home to amazing recreational opportunities that place us outdoors. Not surprisingly, bears and humans occasionally interact. Sometimes it is as harmless as spotting a bear on a ridge while out hiking. Other times it may be surprising a sow with cubs in some berry bushes.

This free event, presented in partnrship with Montana WILD, will provide participants with information so you can safely and responsibly enjoy the outdoors while in bear country. The training will cover all aspects of bear safety: where you're likely to see a bear, how to avoid encounters, bear-safe camping practices, dealing with bear encounters, and hands-on bear spray instruction.

This event will be held outdoors; please dress appropriately. Registration is required by May 19.

HYP Members and non-members welcome.
