January Member Spotlight: 2022 HYP President Emily Mowers

How did you land in Helena?

I didn't land here by choice...and by that I mean I was born and raised here, but I love it and chose to remain here!

What do you do for work and what do you do in your free time?

I work as a budget analyst for the State. In my free time I'm on the HYP board, spend time with my family, and read.

What is the best piece of advice that you ever received – career-related or otherwise?

I had a mentor tell me that not everyone is going to like you, and that's ok, just remain professional and move on. This was important for me to hear as a people pleaser.

What do you like most about Helena?

I love Helena's downtown area. There are so many fun shops, restaurants, and breweries. It's just a great place to walk around!

What do you recommend someone new to town try out? Somewhere fun to visit and somewhere fun to get a bite to eat or a drink?

I would recommend anyone new to town take the tour train in the spring or summer! If you're looking for a great burger you've got to go to Suds Hut, and get the jojo's in place of fries.

What do you like most about Helena Young Professionals?

I like the people! I love meeting new people and welcoming them to the area.
